The late 90’s was a tough period for a lot of skate shoe companies. Now I’m not saying they weren’t turning a profit, but it was NOTHING like it is today. With Timberland boots and Nike’s dominating the streets and skateboarding and BMX dying down a bit the demand for the footwear just wasn’t there the way it is today. Its a shame, of the skate/BMX brands still making sneakers Airwalk was one of the leaders of the pack. Which leads us to the Airwalk Race BMX shoe. The black white version gives us a Shaqnosis vibe. The upper on these badboys consisted of suede and tech mesh (which was resistant to dust, dirt and oil), the insole was Removable with arch support and nicely cushioned, the outsole gum rubber (for traction and durability) and a padded collar for comfort and support. As with most Airwalk shoes from the time period your going to be hard pressed to find them and if you do could look at paying a small premium (anywhere from 80-180.00) Take a trip back to 1998 above!
