Late Year Revisit Of The Original Nike Air Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus 2003

Designed by industry veteran Steven Smith the Nike Air Streak Spectrum plus- a lightweight race day shoe suitable for 5k, 10k and marathon-saw a resurrection via a Supreme collaboration earlier this year. With that came coverage from all the blogs and some confusing reporting.

One such report comes via HIGHSNOBIETY in its write up titled ‘What Is the Nike Air Streak Spectrum Plus, Supreme x Nike’s Hot New Collab?

In it they state that:

“But while Supreme has brought the Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus back to life in collaboration with Nike and rebranded it the Air Streak Spectrum Plus, the original model has an interesting history of its own”

Truth be told Supreme didn’t rebrand it, in the original Nike Catalog (as you can see below) the shoe was indeed called the Air Streak Spectrum Plus at retail.

While the name may have been different overseas or changed at retail, ultimately the name is correct. As far as the specs of the OG they as follows: The upper featured breathable mesh and minimal synthetic overlays providing support and great fit. The midsole featured Full-Length, low profile Phylon midsole, Zoom Air unit in the heel for responsive cushioning, TPU mid foot shank for torsional rigidity and arch support. Lastly, for the outsole you got BRS 1000 heel strike zone for durability and forefoot Duration to provide lightweight forefoot cushioning as well as articulated flex zones providing flexibility and all at $75 USD -90 dollars less than Supreme’s 160 price tag-. In the end this shoe once again displays just how deep Nike’s catalog is when you can sell a 15 year old 75 dollar shoe most people don’t remember for $160 bucks and make people line up to get it.
