The Nike Air Huarache Purple Punch OG 2018 Makes A Quiet Return

Released way back in good old 1991

the purple punch color way of the Huarache made its way to the feet of Michael Jordan during his victory speech in Chicago after winning his first NBA Championship

and to Jerry Seinfeld during an episode of Seinfeld

and outside of the flagship scream green color way is the second best color combination of the Nike Air Huarache. Well, for the first time ever we will be able to purchase this color way in its OG glory. Sure, the shape won’t be dead on to the OG and the height of the shoe is slightly different but for the most part Nike got these right. You see up until now we had two options for this color way. Option one, maybe you were fortunate enough to ID a purple punch like color way back in 2015 although with that ID drop you didn’t have the option for the OG Tag on the tongue or the two tone purple strap on the heel and the leather upper wasn’t that off white like it was on the Original.

2015 Nike ID version

Then in 2016 Nike decided to do a retail release of the purple punch but with a white round rubber logo on the tongue, an all together different mesh than the OG, white leather upper but this time with the two tone purple heel strap – go figure-. A gut punch to those of us that value details of the original.

2016 Retro

but for 2018 Nike is finally doing right by us with a proper retro release. Complete with the original tag on the tongue, much improved shape, better leather and the two tone strap get ready for one of the biggest releases of 2018 tomorrow 3/2. Retail is $130 and will be available via Nike.com
