Jeff Staple And Puma Bring Back “The Hunt” To Sneaker Culture

The next chapter of PUMA and Staple is here. The two have completed a fresh spin on the classic Suede and a new iteration of the Blaze of Glory but that isn’t the whole story here.

Creative Director Jeff Staple recalls, “I miss the days when sneaker culture was all about the hunt. You might need to ask a favor from a relative in London, or hit up a homie in Tokyo in order to get grails you really needed. Times have changed in the culture and the way people get their kicks.”

Well, Staple is bringing back days of yesteryear with each Suede color way exclusive per region which will force those that want the set to have to hustle a little bit.

The PUMA Blaze of Glory x Staple features a combination of all Pigeon color schemes with a texture play of suede and mesh “inspired by the concrete jungle”. Lending a touch of street to PUMA’s iconic Trinomic cushioning midsole, Jeff chose a speckled print as a contrast to the upper and chose gray laces printed with the same spattered pattern.

Says Staple, “That’s why I am really excited about this 4-piece collection with PUMA. We’ve abstracted the trademark Pigeon colors over three different styles of the legendary PUMA Suede. The heels are all ‘dipped’ in Pigeon Pink while the other predominant color is region-specific. ‘Star White’ for The Americas, ‘Frost Grey’ for Europe & The Middle East, and “Pure Black” for Asia Pacific. To cap it all off, we’ve designed a classic Pigeon colored Blaze of Glory that will be available globally at PUMA’s top accounts. Go ahead. Just try and get all of them. Let the hunt begin!”

Yassine Saidi, Senior Head of PUMA Select, remarks, “It’s always a fun and learning experience with Jeff and his team. His energy is unstoppable and definitely shines through in this collection. We’re always thrilled about how he pushes the boundaries of footwear design and we’re extremely proud of the results.”

Each style of the PUMA Suede x Staple will drop at select retailers in different regions exclusively. The PUMA Suede Staple in White will be available in North and Latin America only. The PUMA Suede Staple in Black is exclusive to Asia Pacific while the Grey colorway will only be available in Europe and the Middle East. The PUMA BOG x Staple will be available worldwide.

Staple’s very own Reed Space is the only store releasing all styles in their Lower East Side location and online at staplepigeon.com on September 13th followed by the global release through PUMA stores and select retailer on September 17th.
