Bling bling. A track by New Orleans rapper B.G. featuring the Hot Boys, the Big Tymers and with Lil Wayne on chorus titled “Bling Bling” dropped in March of 1999. Months later Brand Jordan dropped a white chrome version of the Jordan IV and the message boards nicknamed them the Bling Bling’s. In New York these things not only sat on the shelves but in many cases were discounted down to 20 and 30 dollars. I’ll admit, when I first saw them I wasn’t impressed. One hundred dollars for a plain white Jordan IV with no Nike Air Branding? No thanks……atleast, that was my thought in 2000. Fast forward some 13 years later and theres a new found appreciation for that 2000 release. The shape, the quality of the leather and the comfort (OG Air Units) all came together to make a relatively plain shoe an awesome release. You really don’t know what you’ve got till its gone, check out the 2000 release of the white chrome Jordan IV’s above and check out B.G.’s Bling Bling video below!
