Seems like nothing new is an original idea, and thus it appears neither is Nike’s Flyknit. Adidas recently had an injunction lifted on the basis that Nike’s Flyknit technology is from the 1940’s and after a nudge by our friends at OSDLIVE, DeFY. decided to see if we could dig up this 70 + year old patent. What was discovered was a patent by Malcolm G. VanArsdale and Malcolm G. VanArsdale Jr. of Brielle, N.J. In the third paragraph of the patent which is dated Nov. 16 1943, states “Another object of our invention is to provide an article of footwear having a woven or knitted upper and a sport or beach type of outer sole.” Could this be it? Check out the patent above and you decide!
