Overrated and underrated sums up this 2002 release. JB advertised this shoe as a limited release (which I believe to be the first time they did this to that point), and people were on the fence. The platinum 1 featured a hologram Air Jordan logo, a platinum Jumpman on the side panels, and icy soles. The problem? Many had difficulty coughing up 100 bucks for a shoe that had some serious competition in the form of the white on white Air Force 1. Many spots eventually discounted the shoe (lowest I saw was 40 bucks) and pairs were eventually gobbled up. To this day there are some that love the shoes simplicity and others that pay them no mind. Personally I remember the day they dropped in NY, it was the same day as a huge snow storm, needless to say they had to be picked up a couple of days later. Prices have since climbed for mint pairs and your best bet is eBay. Take a trip back to 2002 above!
