According to their Wiki Page (whoever wrote it) says the California based company was “popular among many in the hip-hop, skater, and raver subcultures.” Skater and raver subcultures is correct, I can remember many people that you would classify as ravers and skaters definitely wearing JNCO hardcore, but hip-hop? Not quite. If anything I can recall a lot of the hip hop heads getting on people wearing Jeans that looked nothing short of Samurai pants. While there are exceptions everywhere, most people that were into hip hop were wearing Brands like FUBU, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Pelle Pelle, Boss etc. for their clothing needs (during the time period). And footwear? Timberland boots ruled but Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Puma, Fila, Lugz etc. were the dominant brands. Today, JNCO seems pretty much non existent. Although the Wiki page says it was being carried in JC Penney and Sears as of January 2010, there is currently nothing available for purchase on their site. For now if you need a JNCO fix, check out this classic ad from 1998 below.
