Foot-Joy (Footjoy) Pacifica Tennis Sneaker, Tuffs 3q Racquetball Sneaker, Robiks Aerobic Sneaker, Sod Hogs Softball Sneaker 1983

FootJoy is a golf apparel company that was founded in 1857. In 1985 they were acquired by the Acushneet Company from General mills. Acushnet is a subsidiary of the Fortune Brands Corp. whom recently announced that they intend to separate their company’s three businesses and become Pure-Play Spirits Company (can read about it here). Currently Footjoy is the number one seller of golf shoes and gloves in the United States but they also have a walking shoe as well as a tennis shoe. From the 1984 ad below its apparent that for at least a short while they dabbled in running, racquetball, aerobic, and softball footwear. Hike your shorts up, put on your “cool shades” and take a trip back to 1984 below.
