Caged Zoom provides unique responsive cushioning. It grew out of the goal to increase the amount of Zoom Air technology underfoot and amplify the active springy nature of the system. To allow for such a volume, a structural Pebax cage protects the Zoom Air system. The cage also doubles as a mid-foot shank for weight savings. Testing found that Caged Zoom slows the rate of impact loading, helping to reduce the risk of impact -related injuries. Mechanical testing shows the system has the greatest amount of cushioning for any Zoom Air technology with impact protection similar to a Max Ar unit, but a lower profile, so its resilient and responsive.
