A Quick Chat With LRG Vice President of Marketing, Kevin Delaney About Friday The 47th Hoodie, Jadakiss and Upcoming Projects For 2022 And Beyond

LRG has been actively been pumping out the goods for over two decades and when you are in the game that long you are bound to have some fan favorites.  For 2022 they have brought back this iconic Friday The 47th hoodie in collaboration with Jadakiss for its 15th anniversary .  DeFY. New York sat down for a brief convo with VP of Marketing Kevin Delaney about this big re-issue, upcoming projects and more.

DeFY: We know why Jadakiss was chosen to reintroduce this design -originally released back in 2007- but was there a relationship prior to this drop?

Kevin: Yes, Jadakiss has been a fan of the brand since the 2000s.  He has worn the brand in multiple videos and media appearances in the past.  It was a natural fit for him to reintroduce this piece of LRG history.

DeFY: What inspired LRG and Jadakiss to come together on this opportunity? Is Jadakiss a big fan of horror flicks or is there a connection between the first names?

Kevin: Jadakiss’s government name is Jason, so for him to be the centerpiece of a Jason Voorhees inspired garment- it was a no-brainer.  Kiss also has an album called “Friday on Elm Street ” with the intro song titled “Freddy Vs Jason” with Kiss taking on the embodiment of the Jason Voorhees character.  The fact that Jadakiss tends to lyrically “murder” your favorite rapper made this partnership seem perfect.

DeFY: Jadakiss also has his own clothing line that can be purchased through his website but is there any possibility we’ll see a collaboration between LRG and Jada on a more personal collection down the line?

Kevin: There is nothing official locked in but we are always open to continue a working relationship with artists we like and respect.

DeFY: Anything else in the pipeline for LRG?

Kevin: LRG has a lot high profile collaborations coming in Q4.  We have complete cut and sew collection designed by  Sean Wotherspoon and his brand Round 2 that will drop at Complexcon in November in Long Beach.  LRG will also be releasing 2 sneakers with NBA Legend Patrick Ewing’s brand, Ewing Athletics.  Lastly we will be dropping a Military and tactical inspired capsule with New York heritage brand Rothco.

DeFY: Any other upcoming projects for Jada?

Kevin: Jadakiss has announced the debut of his new Coffee brand “Kiss Café” building off the his family’s 40 year tenure in the coffee industry.  Kiss is also working on a forthcoming album on the iconic Def Jam Records.
