I still remember the day I went to scoop my copy of Ready To Die. Lets rewind. I had heard Big’s work on the Who’s The Man? soundtrack a year or so earlier but outside of that there wasn’t much material (at least that I had access to). Then, while watching Video Music Box on a saturday morning during the summer of 1994, I caught the first showing of the video to ‘Juicy’. Me = hooked. A few weeks later I headed over to to Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream NY and picked up the cassette single to ‘Juicy’ with the B side ‘Unbelievable’ and the hype just continued. In late September me and two of my boys hopped on the bus back to Green Acres Mall on a cold fall day to scoop Ready To Die and use the money that was supposed to go to my school lunch to buy the album (on CD). Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat battles would never be the same, listen to one of my repeat songs (where you would take your little boom box and hit that repeat button so you didn’t have to get up and keep pressing the back arrow) below!
