The Shox XT is still one of the most menacing looking cross training shoes of all time. It was the shoe that looked like it had returned from the future to Terminate your current cross trainer shoe.
That look however came with a retail price of $150 and a very snug fit. They featured lightweight synthetic leather with added molded detail for extra support and stability (and extra snugness), dynamic fit tongue inner sleeve enclosed by aerodynamic zippered shroud, three quarter length TPU chassis midsole with Nike Shox columns in both the forefoot and heel with a double lasted heel and forefoot Pylon and an outsole that features premium non marking compound combined with specific outsole geometry as well as a wrapped up in the heel, arch and toe for added durability. In other words Nike pulled out all the bells and whistles for a cross training shoe that would lead us into the future. Nike stated that they were engineered for athletes that demanded a perfect balance of cushioning, medial/lateral stability and optimal responsiveness for heel to toe transition and for that time they just about nailed it.
