The Original Atari Lynx 1989, Ok Ok Its Vintage But Its Still Fun!

Touted as the original Hand held video game system, the Atari Lynx is one for the books. Originally released in 1989 with a 16 bit system and color it was definitely more appealing than the Nintendo Gameboy that was 8 bit black and white. The major problem that plagued this system was its lack of games, which was where the Nintendo Gameboy, for lack of better words, blew every other portable gaming system out of the water. Alot of people complain about the Atari Lynx’s size, but personally holding it 20+ years after its release its quite comfortable. The stereo sound is not bad at all especially considering its age. The graphics while comical now, were amazing at the time. If you decide to pick one up for the nostalgic aspect, I recommend picking up California Games as the game play is pretty good. I’ve noticed a lot of people complaining about how difficult it is to pull the games out of the system but I found it to be effortless. The best power source for this system would be from an ac adapter as this system devours batteries. If your torn between the Lynx I and the Lynx II its in this writers opinion to opt for the first gen system as the sound is better and to me it has a more unique look. If your looking for a good example of this system I would recommend going to eBay, make sure there is no wear on the back (unless you don’t care) as the area where you insert the games tends to flake. For more information wikipedia has all the tech info you need. This vintage system is highly recommended if you want to relive your youth, you collect vintage video games/systems, or you are a diehard video game fanatic as some enthusiasts are still making games for this system!
