Its interesting to see how far we have come over the year. In 1984 who could have visioned the impact apple would have on our lives from the iMac to the iPhone. The Apple IIe’s & c’s mouse alone is the size of an ipod. For more information on the Apple IIe & c check out the wiki page.

The Mini Disc 1992
I remember the first time I saw a Mini Disc player in late 1992/early 93. The portable Mini Disc was less bulky than the cassette players of the time and much easier to walk around with than the portable cd players. Also, the Mini Disc didn’t skip like a CD would when walking with it. The one thing that blew my mind when I first saw one in person was the fact that the title of the song went across the small strip at the top of the portable player and the front of the home version. In 1997 at the age of 16 my grandmother bought me both the home Mini Disc player/recorder and the portable player (which was packaged with the home system.) They were smaller than a cd and much more versatile than a tape. I was in “tech love” so much so that despite having the ability to download mp3′s in early 2000 I put a Mini Disc player in my 1994 3000gt (no comment) and kept it in for about a year or two before finally waiving the white flag to the mp3 (you know things are bad when your the only person you know and or meet that owns one). Is there a place in modern society for the Mini Disc player? Personally I think there is, more so for backing up your data. For one they hold up much better than a CD, and two although we thrive off digital in the event your computer crashes, or your back up hard drive for that matter you could run into some big problems. Mini Discs hold up very well. For more info on the history of the Mini Disc click HERE. You can check out the throw back ad below, enjoy!
