Pump Up The Volume: The Nike Command Force Pump To Return 2014

Its been a long haul folks but we’ve done it. Its not often I’ll sit here and brag but I think its time to do a little chest pounding. In 2010 I started a petition to bring back the Nike Air Command Force Pump. Like other petitions I started, there was those that said it would never happen and those that backed my mission up. After the petition I brought the “cause” to Facebook and then the Forums Niketalk and SoleCollector and now official photo’s of a Command Force Pump retro have surfaced.

There is no word on availability as of yet, but this is indeed a release of epic proportions. As we’ve talked about before, the Pump technology was nothing new when it really hit the mainstream back in 1989 but Reebok helped market it better than it ever had before and well, other companies adopted the technology (temporarily). Besides Reebok there was Nike, L.A. Gear, Spalding (and a couple of other’s we’ll cover in another post). Of all Reebok’s competitors, Nike posed the biggest threat. First there was the Nike Air Pressure followed by the Command Force Pump and then the 180 Pump. Of the 3, the Command Force Pump always stood out amongst the pack, having been immortalized forever in the movie ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ as well as an episode of In Living Color in which Jim Carey pumps them up during a spoof of Vanilla Ice. Oh, and don’t forget the time Tony Parker broke out a crisp OG pair for a photo shoot years back. Stay tuned for more info regarding this release as it unfolds and in the meantime if your new to the site, check out some other shoes we’ve helped bring back below! Via Niketalk and Modernotoriety.
