Get Ziggy With It! The Reebok Zigtech 2010 UPDATE WITH REVIEW!

The men and woman at Reebok are doing big things. The Reebok Zig Tech cross training shoe slated to release in march is visibly ummmm lets say DIFFERENT. And before you say it looks like Reebok stole design cues from Nike’s Free sneaker its actually the other way around. Reebok filed suit against Nike for infringing on their collapsable shoe technology. You can read more about it HERE (Nike Free is mentioned). This year is going to be a good one from Reebok and we look forward to picking these up. Stay tuned for the review on these coming in March for now check out the pictures below courtesy of Kinstor taoba.

UPDATE!

The Reebok Zig Tech has finally been tested out and to say the least, it is a VERY interesting piece of footwear. While simply walking in the shoe it makes you actually move faster. Don’t believe me? Try them on for yourself, I have never felt this ever in a pair of sneakers. I don’t know if its a good thing, or a bad thing. They are comfortable, not as cushioned at the Nike Air Max 2009, but the comfort was still very good (also keep in mind the air max 2009 costs 60 dollars more. So back to the zig tech. While your walking in the shoe, its as if some invisible person is helping to propel you forward. The uppers are very light weight and roomy. These fit pretty true to size, but I would recommend going a half size up as they get narrow around the toe area. The uppers felt very breathable. The uppers felt lighter than that of the 2009 air max, but the sole of the shoe is much more substantial and thus adds more weight to the shoe. In conclusion I would say if your an athlete or a very active person this is definitely the sneaker for you, the performance of this shoe is something you would expect from a shoe that is much more expensive.

I would like to be the first person to say Reebok should use this song in their ad campaign Miley Cyrus and Reebok Zig Tech a winning combination how do you feel? Listen to the song below and vote!

  1. these shoes sucks they fucked up my knees… honestly is some cases less is more. lol we were made to run bare feet get a pair of cheap cross trainers honestly.

  2. These are the most comfortable sneakers I have ever bought. I have a bunion, a bad knee and a bad ankle all on the same side and these sneakers alleviated a majority of my pain. I LOVE THEM!!!!

    1. These shoes are really great, but try Topricin on your aches and pains prior to and after running and you will be amazed at just how good you can feel running.

  3. Had the shoes a month and have problems with the materials. Already have holes on inside of each sneaker. Would never recommend this to any of my clients…

    1. What exactly were you doing? Its kind of odd that they would develop holes on the inside of the shoes but if this is an issue other people are having I would definitely like to write about it let me know thanks 🙂

      1. I’m having the same problem. Identical holes on the outside of each shoe, in the mesh where it meets the outsole, at the level of the balls of my feet where the shoe bends.

      2. they have a problem with holes. I have a grat looking pair that have not been abused in any way with holes in them!

      3. Thats where mine are. A salesman in Hibbetts Told me for some odd reason, sales have dropped way done on these shoes. I told him about my shoes, and he said that had to be the reason

      1. they would not fix mine with the reciept. They said they had been wore outside!!! Great Footlocker!!!

      2. Hey David,

Forget Footlocker, I would definitely contact Reebok directly as it seems a number of people have the same complaint. Let us know how what happens

        Best regards,

        Scott

    2. ive had my zigs for about 2-3 months and i wear them everywhere and over tht period of time there has been hole right by my toes and one day i was doing an agility course and all of a sudden when i made a sharp left and the whole shoe just ripped a part so now i have to wear my old shoes tht barely fit me and i ordered zigs online about 4 weeks ago and they never came so i gues im screwed

  4. I have a calcium building on the back of my heal, after buying the Zigs I can run pain free again. Just custom ordered my second pair. One for the gym & one for casual wear.

      1. @defynewyork: obviously, Robert Holland is from Holland, thats according to his last name…lol. Anyway, I have a bad heel caused by bone spur on my L and R heel. I tried different kind of soles and shoes with shock absorbers and still i dont get any benefits from them. So sad to say im kinda like limping when walking. When I tried this shoes, I would say I can walk without limping.Though the pain on my heel area is still there but hopefully as I wear this shoes, the pain will subside. But instantly, as I mentioned earlier, I can now walk straight. Thanks to the zig design. It saves me from buying the Gravity Defyer shoes which has a bad reviews and it cost more.

  5. These sound really interesting and I’m definitely considering getting a pair, but I’m just wondering how legitimately these actually work. I know that a few years back, the Nike Shox were “the new thing” – Bought those and felt no difference in my running ability. I just really want these to work and hopefully solve my leg problems as I have medio-soleus syndrome and shin splints so I really want something that will help. Are there any studies or anything to show that these work and that pro athletes aren’t just endorsing the products for the $$?

    1. they are crap. get asics they are good for running and will hold up, stay away from these shoes. if you want, just send me half the money and i will send mine to you ha ha

  6. I got some of these In Virginia, they are supper comfie but there are holes starting in the mesh and they have been worn only about 10 times and never anything more than walking. I asked the salesman about the durability and he said it would be more durable than the more traditional mesh. I guess I was had!

  7. I bought these crap for shoes and paid $130.00 for them. I have had them less than two months and have holes in the mesh. They are suppose to be running shoes right? I run. I should have stayed with the ASICS. They are the best for your money and they are not made from crap overseas!!!!

  8. I bought a pair recently, i love them at first, got comments on how fresh they were all the time, real light, great gym shoes, i work out pretty intense, I’m 20 yrs old and would like to go out for competitions soon. These shoes after three weeks of wearing has developed holes in the mesh on various locations, i do cardio by running stairs somedays, they are not very durable for 100 bucks, i expected better quailty, design is flawless but peformance is more important, i would get another pair for casual shoes to wear out. Anyone know who I contact to report this, I’m thinking about writing reebok and explaining myself, see how loyal they are to thier customers and test out the integrity of this well known powerhouse retailer of sports equipment. Thanks for any advice

    1. Hey Cody,

If I were you I would contact Reebok directly. For one, if enough people complain maybe they will take some action. Outside of that it might qualify for a voucher, its worth a shot be sure and post what happens.

      Best Regards,

      Scott

  9. hey i called Reebok at this number: 1.800.843.4444 and they told me this was a new problem and they gave me an RA# and told me to send them back (was told
they had renforced the problem areas and was replacing the defect. They were very helpful.

    1. Did you ever get them repaired or replaced? I just got off the phone with Reebok but am hesitant to send them out. Mine ripped a month after wearing them. I love the shoe just hate the mesh.

  10. I was thinking about getting a pair of zigtechs to run in, but am a little hesitant after reading some reviews. I love the way they look, very cool, it is hard to find a stylish pair of running shoes. I have run in asics, new balance, mizuno, and brooks. They are all good shoes, but ugly! I am picky about my shoes because I want and need them to be comfortable. I am a neutral running who desires maximum confort and cushion! I usually try to get around 6 months out of my running shoes. Right now I am running about 15-20 miles per week and will be running several half marthons in the spring. Should I try these shoes, or stick with the well-known running brands? I do NOT like to waste money, so will be forced to run in what ever I buy until they are worn out in about 6 months. Any suggestions?

  11. Its a tough call Kate. There are a lot of running shoes out there. Personally I think the Zigtech’s are good, but there seems to be some issues with these that Reebok has addressed. If you want drop me a line and I can point you in the direction of some more stylish looking shoes from your favorite brands in addition to the Zigtech.

  12. I admit I thought Zigtech was plain goofy. The idea behind it is ingenious though. A big cushion so that the impact will be lessened. Lesser impact = further run. You’ll feel tired but it’ll be felt later. It’s like your leg’s own gatorade for that matter.

  13. I have also had problems with the mesh developing holes after one month of just walking. No hard running or anything. I am currently contacting the company.

  14. Horrible shoes ~ I paid the over inflated price for these only to have them falling apart TWO days after my son started wearing them. Now, not even 3 months later, the tread has completely worn down and they have holes in them. Don’t waste your money.
